K2 College: helping careers in tech go from local to global

How does one get the idea to create an IT learning platform that connects people from different countries and backgrounds? It starts with local success stories and the ambition to make tech careers accessible to more people—by helping them become more resilient mentally, and teaching them way more than hard skills only. Here’s how we make global online learning for future IT stars a reality.

Employing our experience

K2 College dates back to 2015 when a visionary team led by Julija Rimšelė opened Vilnius Coding School—the first programming school in Lithuania and now one of the leading tech training organizations in the Baltics. Not to boast: it was a success—expanding to Latvia, Ireland, and the Czech Republic and broadening the range of tech courses every year. This growth resulted in what the birth of K2 College—a one-of-a-kind organization, dedicated to bringing up a generation of highly skilled tech professionals who never compromise their happiness and well-being while progressing in their careers.

The decade we spent running Vilnius Coding School was full of success stories—happy students with incredible careers in startups that are now unicorns and international companies. Not only did we help over 10 000 students get started in tech, but we also used this time to perfect our courses, continuously developing new methods and approaches for efficient learning. We kept our promise to bring only the most practical knowledge to the table, inviting the top minds from leading companies to become our lecturers.

Since opening the K2 College, we are excited to witness the individual success stories and life transformations of our international students. In our efforts to make our courses more accessible to people around the globe, we worked hard to make various financing options available and continuously expand their range.

At K2 College, we also recognize the existence of certain pressures and mental health risks experienced by people in the tech sector globally. From burnout to imposter syndrome—we’ve heard plenty of stories about difficulties in this fast-paced field. Yet, we believe that working in tech can be part of a balanced and happy life. This is why our programs include a mental health training aimed at increasing your mental resilience and introspection while giving you the tools to cope with stress and a wide range of emotions that comes with building a new career.

Making online learning personal

At the core of K2 College is the dedication to transferring the best of real-life learning to the online world. This means that we want to make studying IT flexible while maintaining the main benefits of traditional academia — personal attention and an empowering community. We achieve this by offering online lectures in real-time. This synchronized learning approach accommodates discussions with lecturers, quick resolutions of any obstacles in the study process and immersive learning experience. In addition, our students receive support from our career center consultants—our most valuable team members, responsible for supporting your successful job search after completing the course.

As a student of K2 College, your experience will begin with a personal consultation—to help you choose the right course and get going. Later, you will be guided by the lectors and our dedicated staff members, who will train you for job interviews and help you make a career plan. However, as we will be doing our best to accommodate learning, we will constantly ask for one important thing—your motivation and drive to keep learning and practicing.

Combining soft skills and hard knowledge

Here’s a little about our secret sauce—the skill combo that propels our students to succeed.

While acknowledging that specific IT knowledge and proficiency in programming languages can make or break a career, we’ve been witnessing a steady growth in the importance of soft skills in the field. We learned this both by working with employers in the IT field and by listening to the students who have identified that sometimes soft skills become an obstacle when looking for a job.

Now, each of our courses includes mandatory soft skill training to equip students with the teamwork and communication skills needed for a steady career in tech. Our alumni highlight the soft skill training one of the top benefits of studying at K2 College. An equally important addition to our courses is the mental training aimed at removing anxiety and stress from the learning and job search process. This online resource is provided in collaboration with a certified psychologist. Find more about what we offer here.

Knowing what’s up

If there’s one field that requires constant knowledge updates—it’s IT. Each year, we tweak our courses based on the changes in the industry. Most recently, the big paradigm of AI encouraged us to add the AI module to each of our courses. So, you can now study the following subjects:

Cyber Security + AI,
Data Analytics: Python Programming + AI.

We listen closely to the needs of the most dynamic companies in the market, so we constantly work on new programs. If you want to be among the first ones to hear about what we have cooking, subscribe to our newsletter and never miss a thing.

What to expect? As you will be taught by professionals who lead teams at top IT companies, you will receive plenty of real-life case studies, the most recent insights, and industry secrets. Moreover, our community gatherings and exclusive events will invite you to discuss the most important tech developments with your peers—making friendships and careers along the way.
